“Town Spirit” a documentary by local director, Sean Wells, sought out to answer this question. Town Spirit: A Tribute to Oakland’s Enduring Bar Culture (2018), is a short documentary, created in 2018 and premiered at the first ever Oakland Cocktail Week, explores some of Oakland's most cherished watering hole institutions as they navigate a rapidly changing landscape.
